My third-grade class was completely engaged by this cute story. We read it during our unit on friendship, and the kids kept asking to hear it again. One student said it made her think about how she treats her stuffed animals at home. The way it handles difficult emotions is perfect for this age group.

I bought this book after my son had trouble adjusting to a new school. The bear’s story really helped him understand that feeling out of place doesn’t last forever. We’ve read it probably twenty times now, and he still finds new things to talk about. Recommended!
